Hi, my name is Jasper Vergeer…
…and I am a freelance senior Android developer with 9 years of experience in the industry. I build and maintain native Android apps in Kotlin, test-driven, with Jetpack Compose as the obvious UI toolkit and extensive experience with Coroutines & Flow, Hilt, Retrofit and a modular app architecture — from first commit to Play Store release.
In my role as tech lead I was responsible for upholding privacy best practices and I set the technical direction of the team: using the most up-to-date tools and technologies, built on a Clean Architecture software architecture. Clean Architecture creates a clear separation of concerns within the app, which makes the code easier to understand, maintain and extend.
Today I work AI-first: AI tools and agents are an integral part of my development process, and I help teams adopt that same way of working effectively. I also keep existing apps healthy — updates, new Play Store requirements and continued development — so that shipped work stays shipped.
In my spare time I am a family man and love spending time with my loved ones. Whether it is weekend trips, cooking together or just being at home, I believe family is the most important thing in life. I am also passionate about windsurfing. The physical and mental challenge of windsurfing helps me relax and recharge after a long working week.
